The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) Western Pennsylvania Chapter announced their 2017 class of Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest.  For twenty-two years, the foundation has honored fifty of the region’s most accomplished men and women for their charitable dedication, community involvement, and career success. The honorees commit to raising much needed funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  All proceeds raised by Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest help to support vital CF research, medical, and educational programs.

The 50 Finest kick-off event recently held at Cioppino Restaurant, was an opportunity for the twenty-five men and twenty-five women to meet before embarking on their six month fundraising and awareness campaign for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  From now until August 1 of this year each candidate will learn more about the disease, research, and the advancement s in the treatment of CF; all while putting their fundraising and networking skills to the test.  Each candidate is challenged to raise a minimum of $4,000 to benefit the Foundation.  The fundraising campaign culminates with a special gala hosted by CFF and WHIRL Magazine on August 12, 2017 at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown from 6:00-11:00pm.

The Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest Gala is home of the CF Foundation’s first and longest running 50 Finest event.  Last year’s 21th anniversary celebration raised more than $455,000 to help fulfill the CFF mission. The groundbreaking fundraising model to find a cure for cystic fibrosis commits nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to funding research.

“The 2017 class has some big shoes to fill after the last year’s success but I know we have found the perfect group of people to get the job done,” said Lauren Pesce, Senior Development Director, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
